Is it a done thing in the tvr community to live with a leaking crank seal, wiv one hand on the dip stick n a rag in the other?
if so when is it sensible to call it a day n sort it out e.g. 1 ltr per 200 - 400 miles ??????

At 1 ltr per 200 - 400 miles I'd've been camped outside the dealers! Don't let it get to that stage.

I don't remember B19GRR (the original) ever leaking and she didn't seem to use much oil in general either. So I guess the seal had been upgraded before I got her unless Joolz snuck it in on one service and forgot to charge me.

As with everything on these cars, if having something fixed will give you peace of mind then get it fixed!

Cheers,
Rob

Hi Rob,
Cheers for that mate. G'nu clean n top it up and monitor it. Dont know how much the dealer put in when they changed the oil.See how bad it really is.
See you out there......

My car uses some oil (don't they all) but it has never leaked any. I have a dusty white garage floor and it would be immediately noticable if it ever did.

If it used oil at a rate of 1 ltr per 200 - 400 miles I would be wondered who was stealing it at nightime. Most people seem to reckon 1ltr every 700 to 1000 miles depending on how you drive it. That's use not leak.
