Hi

Has anyone else seen / applied for this: https://smallbusinesscharter.org/help-to-grow-mana...

£750 for a 12-week mini-MBA type programme from a University Business School seems like good value (esp for the powerfully-built company directors).

Anyone with any experience of this?

My personal take. It’s a way for sub standard private companies to offer sub standard educational courses on the government purse strings.

I signed up then I reconsidered. Perhaps I’m just getting old and grumpy.

Much like all Govt ideas get jumped on by bandits to hoover out the cash. Loft insulation anyone? Solar panels?

From my take it's run by University Business Schools - are they sub-standard private companies (admittedly not all are equal!)?

Is it really 90% discounted? For what you get that doesn’t look like £8000 worth of course or a full year in Uni!

I’d suggest futurelearn would be better value for money. Plenty of business modules on there to work through.

I got into a similar scheme by work. The marketing looked nice, but it turned out to be complete pish where the lecturers weren't required to meet a curriculum or output standard, so they did the absolute minimum and it was just free money for them.

8 Facilitated 2 hour online sessions.. Hello, start video, walk away.
4 workshops. Let's call that 4 hours work for a junior lecturer

I wouldn't pay 8k for that, I wouldn't pay 650 for that.. Nothing you couldn't get for free elsewhere.

I walked away from my course and refused to pay the 5k fees.
