So I've had a 19 plate A220d premium for 5 months now. Paid £23.3k and now trade in value is £26.7k.

Been offered a focus ST diesel 20 plate with 7.5k miles as a straight swap and the focus could be traded in for £28.2k where I stay in Scotland. The focus is in Wigan and both are 190bhp.

In a dilemma as to swap or not. The focus is nice and has some more features than the merc, such as adaptive cruise, heathed front screen etc
In 2 years time if i want some of the merc gimmicks such as voice assistance, map updates I'll need to pay for them, don't even get me started on the £299 for carplay.

Anyone had both and if so any views on which is the better car?

I have never been a fan of swapping for the sake of swapping.

Every man and his Dog seems to have an A series but if you are happy with it, know the history and know there are no issues etc then why swap?

Interior on the Merc looks leagues above anything Ford are bashing out but perhaps that is just subjective, the Ford interiors have always seemed pants to me .

Is there a reason you want to change other than a slightly newer car? If you want to take advantage of the increase in value would it make more sense to sell the A Class for the higher price and use the money for a cheaper car or 2 cheaper cars...?

Go for it if you like the Focus then go for it, it seems like a good deal.

Why swap a classy looking Mercedes for a Ford Focus? No offence to the Focus but they haven’t looked great since the mark 1 and Ford interiors are usually horrible. I’d imagine the Ford would depreciate a lot quicker too. Doesn’t make sense on any level to me.
