Immobiliser issues
Discussion
As a 3 time ex- Chimaera owner but currently wearing a medallion and chest wig
in my Griff, I need assistance.
I've put a longer thread in the Griff area but basically, I can't find the instructions I once had from Dave (chimpongas) regarding bypassing an old and crusty immobiliser
which I had to do on my Chimaera in 2016.
It's now become a tepid start, not just a 'hot start' issue. My history will show you my dedication to the marque so I'd appreciate help by PM if possible. I have got access to the M99T box but wondered if it could be done at the umbilical of black wires in the rats nest by the battery.
Thanks in advance.

I can see you are a long time member but you do not have email enabled.
That said it may have a different system being a '94 (mine is a Meta). I only bypassed the starter solenoid circuit and kept the ECU / fuel pump disable features. With the faults you describe, it is probably the alarm that is kaput, not the immobiliser. The immobiliser only disables the starting capability and has nothing to do with the door locks, at least on the Meta system it doesn't. It is probably possible to replace the whole system yourself but I'd be wary...

I am in the same boat... or should I say situation?
My 1994 pre SERP Chimaera”s immobiliser is playing up (locking doors by itself, intermittently working etc) I would like to by pass it if possible and fitting an after market myself.
Can I request the same info please?
Door locking is a function of the alarm so bypassing the immobiliser will not help (they are 2 separate boxes). My 1994 pre SERP Chimaera”s immobiliser is playing up (locking doors by itself, intermittently working etc) I would like to by pass it if possible and fitting an after market myself.

Sounds to me that you need the system replaced.
At 27 years old it's time has come.
The Meta system is actually quite good so you could buy a replacement from Abucus and just plug it in yourself.

If you are conversant with electrics swapping the Meta for another alarm/immobiliser is quite straightforward although time consuming.
The central locking on my car became very unreliable so I replaced my original Meta with a Sterling Toad system 4 years ago.
IMHO the Toad system has a few advantages over the original Meta , it is contained in one neat package, has more substantial relays, a greater range and by the addition of a relay can open the boot lid via the key fob. And it is considerably less expensive than the Meta. I paid 4 years ago less than £100.

This ^ I have a Cobra CAT 1 I fitted over 14 years ago nothing more maintenece than a couple of key fob batteries since and the microwave sensor never false alarms with the roof off (its never fitted) I went Cobra as I use to fit many back in the day all trouble free IIRC , no harm in defecting away from the Meta its nothing special IME The central locking on my car became very unreliable so I replaced my original Meta with a Sterling Toad system 4 years ago.

I prefer the 1 box systems, far simpler.
I changed a fox guard to toad a few years back, sadly the toad systems seem to be discontinued now but the likes of cobra and scorpion are very good too.
Best thing about installing yourself is you know how to bypass it easily should it give problems.
Identifying the wiring takes a bit of time but I have the colours listed and what they do for my old 95 car if you need them.
