Air rifles

No idea if this is the right forum but when I was in my mid teens (30 years ago now) I did a lot of target shooting with my .22 air rifle. Got very good at it as well. Fast forward to now, my old air arms break barrel and scope are loooong gone and I want to take it up again - something to do on a Saturday for a couple of hours and I have a couple of air rifle ranges around where I live.
However, 30 years is a long time and I guess things have changed a lot. Are break barrel still the one to have? What makes are decent? Anyone on here also target shoot?
Ideal budget is a max of £300 for now including a decent scope - though ideally less - can anyone recommend anything?

Ta - plinking on a range to start with. Though maybe small competitions after I get back into it and learn to shoot properly again
