Car Advert Scam - email thread now begun

Read below (as usual, bottom up). I emailed an enquiry about a Porsche for sale on mobile.de. The chaps reply was so obviously a scam I thought I'd play a bit of a game and make him think 'Mafia'

What should I reply now? Best response gets sent!

Ah, I've just recognised your name. You're getting married to my cousin, Adrianna (or whatever name she goes by these days). Uncle Roberto speaks very highly of you - I think he has plans for you in 'the family'.

I'm sure Uncle Roberto could ship the car over for me as he is sending me a consignment later this month. As practically family, I'm sure you'll be agreable to this?

Perhaps you'd be interested in settling payment in other ways too - you know, to avoid tax. After all, if you can't trust the family, who can you trust?

I'd go along with this one first - otherwise he'll cotton on that you're playing with him.

Just say that you're more than happy to wait until after the wedding or, because you want to make sure with the car, that you need only 10mins of his time - of which anyone in any part of the country can visit due to the wide spread nature of your family. SURELY he has 10mins within the next 3 weeks to spare!?

You could also ask him how he has the time to send the car via a shipper to the UK, but not 10mins to see one of your relatives?

Don't give the game away just yet.....!

I am a simple Sicilian businessman with many friends; judges, lawyers, police officials etc, so I will be able to have one of my friends or family view the car shortly.

Before I arrange this please could you tell me whether there is space in the luggage compartment for either a single load, approximately 6ft in length and 180lbs or perhaps five smaller loads equalling the same weight? Is the luggage space carpetted or vinyl - ie washable?

eh? its a fake escrow scam. he wants you to deposit money in an account of a company that pretends to be an escrow company.

Hi Joseph,

It is good you get married in Italia, my Godfather takes a personal interest in all such ceremonies. Where are you getting married, I will ask my cousins and nephews to take care of things for you and to make sure that everything goes well for you. This way, you will have plenty of time to meet them and you won't need to concearn yourself with shipping. They will want to take your car for a drive and you also, don't worry about the escrow service, they will bring negotiable securities with them.
I hope they will be satisfied with the car, please let me know by return where and when is convieniant to meet you and your bride.

I'm more than happy to wait until after the wedding. However, because the car looks so good, we need only 15mins of your time. I've spoken to my cousin Vincent in Rome who is happy to travel to see the car. Surely you have time 15mins to spare for Vincent within the next 3 weeks?

If the car is as good as in the pictures Vinny will happily pay you cash imediately, which will surely be useful in paying for those expensive wedding arrangements!

You should tell him that you don't need to see the car and that your sending him a cheque for $500,000 and if he could deduct the cost of the car from this and send the rest back then you would be most grateful.Also you have a shipping agent ready to take the car.
