My Apple iPad is about five years old, the batteries do not hold the charge for anything like as long now, I tend to have the iPad plugged in for charging for a good amount of time whilst using it.
From experience, is it worth the expense of new batteries being installed or go for replacement iPad?
Other than the batteries my iPad is still functioning perfectly.
Thanks.

£99 will get you a new battery from Apple (https://support.apple.com/en-gb/ipad/repair/service).

Only you can decide whether selling your existing iPad and buying a new one is a better option.

Thanks for reply, £99 sounds not too bad, give that a go I think.
