Hi all

Having used up the last of my stock of black nitrile eBay specials, I jumped on earlier to order some more. I remember paying a kit £6 for a box of 100 when I last stocked up a couple of years ago, now…. £19 a box! Wow

Presume this is covid in action as demand will be high. So, what’s the next best option? These PU coated ones any good? I’ve worn them before but usually with the nitrile gloves underneath and tbh wearing them alone covers my hands in ste.

Are there any better ones out there that are washable and thus reusable many more times?

H&S bullst aside, I can’t let my hands get filthy all the time. I’m regularly out spannering on the toys when I ought to be working and often need to duck back in to take a call/ type a reply and I can’t be washing hands every time, need to be able to whip some gloves off and get cracking for an hour. hehe

Try ebay item 174764069538, just an example, might find them cheaper from another seller.

I've used these for ages, usually keep the dirty ones in a bag and chuck them in the washing machine when i wash my overalls.
Allow enough 'feel' for all but the most intricate of jobs.

Not nitrile and not brilliant for delicate jobs but I bought a few pairs of pairs of thick, rubberised gloves for a pound a pair from a local factors. I thought they'd be throw away items at that price but weeks later, they're still holding out great. Bit cumbersome for fiddly jobs but 100% waterproof so for things like changing dirty wheels etc, they're pretty decent. I've also got a couple of pairs of Mechanik gloves but again, not great for delicate or particularly wet / oily tasks. Not sure the latter are worth the money - said factors have similar unbranded stuff for a fiver a pair, will give them a shot.

Edit: These things...

Just to confirm what you are saying, I got a set of this style as a freebie when I bought a took off eBay. I immediately thought it was nice they did that but that they would be terrible.

I was completely wrong and they are still going months later.

They haven't replaced disposable gloves and they've gone a bit crusty but they are a great choice for select dirty jobs.

I'd definitely buy another pair to replace them.

+1. Very comfortable. Nitriles make my hands too hot and sweaty for long term use. The fabric/rubber ones are great, good feel and protect your hand from abrasion and all but actual liquids. I'll pop nitriles on to do an oil and filter change but back to fabric for nearly everything else. They'll also last all day (multiple days since I wash them too) where the nitriles rip and need replaced several times.

They will allow dirt in on the backs though ( as I found out today)

The best nitrile gloves I have used are made by "gloveworks" but are incredibly hard to get hold of.
