Another Plasma telly thread

My 32" widescreen CRT telly has finally given up the ghost, and I'm quite tempted to go for a plasma to replace it.
I've done a bit of research, but am not entirely sure whether to go for plasma vs LCD, or a bargain priced last-generation model vs latest HD compatible screen.
Due to space limitations, I'm looking at either 32" or 37" at the most, as while I'd love a 42" screen, I'm not sure there's enough room for one.
A few models that have caught my eye are:
Older and cheaper
Lg RZ32LZ50 (32" LCD)
Lg RZ37LZ30 (37" LCD)
Panasonic TH37PW7 (37" Plasma)
Current models
LG 32LX2R (32" LCD)
Panasonic TH37PV500 (37" HD Plasma)
Panasonic TH-37PE50B (37" Plasma)
I am still unsure of a few things though...
Some screens (e.g., the Panasonics) are being advertised as HD compatible, but don't appear to have the HDMI connector - how does this work, as I thought this was required?
Will I see any benefit watching current DVDs on a HD TV (if so, will I need a DVD player with HDMI output?), or will you only notice the difference with HD DVDs on HD DVD players or new HD broadcast content?
For 32/37", is LCD a better option?
Are there any other screens that I've not listed that are worth looking at too?

I've got a Panasonic TH-42PE40B and it's 
Cracking picture. I would suggest www.avforums.com but they are very biased towards Panasonic. I've seen LG pictures on their DLP set and they are awesome, but if you were to say that on avforums they would berate you.
I would suggest you go along and view a few sets, but remember they are not set up to show their true capabilities in the bucket shops. They will have cranked the contrast way up and it'll look gaudy. Chances are they'll be deoming off an RF input, not RGB.
Once you know what you want, do a bit of price matching and get yourself a bargain

I've just ordered a plasma TV and DVD cinema system from Derestrictor. I can't recommend him highly enough.
I was nervous about heading off to the high street because everything gets sold on features, and frankly I don't have enough life left to spend hours researching so that some spotty oik can talk at me in acronyms.
This was the most painless process you could imagine. I told him what I wanted to use the system for and where it would live. He gave me clear choices and told me the implications of each option across a range of budgets.
Great service and very competitive too. I wouldn't hesitate to use his company again.

I'm going out on a limb here, but I would hazard a guess that he sells plasma TV and DVD'S.

IIRC DeR sells high-end AV equipment. He's also a bloody nice bloke
with a healthy appetite for cars

Must say, as per Rude's recent punt, for a 32" flat panel there is only the Hitachi 32PD5200 plasma option, it simply creams everything else and special PH prices are available...
For LCD money, can do the Tosh mentioned above (32WL56) for £830 but JVC's 32C50 batters that ito subjective quality and will be £899 from tomorrow.
