Just ordered our first EV yesterday online.
Mrs Stick is leasing via her work so it’s tax efficient.

Went for Cavansite Blue with black leather & AMG line premium pack.

Huge acknowledgment to Taunton MB who despite knowing it wouldn’t be their sale allowed us a 2 hour test drive & were really gracious. Nice to see.

Genuinely impressed with the EQC especially the way you use the paddles to control how fierce the regenerative braking is.

Did you get offered a free BP Pulse home charger install?

If you did, and you need it, just be aware there is a bit of a delay.. I have been waiting since 4th July.

Sounds good smile What I can't understand is the need to vary the regen level? Why wouldn't you have it set to max all the time - you just then vary the amount you're accessing with your right foot? scratchchin

Because some situations don't need it. For example, coming out of the village down the road I can put it in D+ and coast to my door - if I put the regen on I'd need to keep using the throttle to get up.

Normally I use D Auto (hold the paddles) and let it sort itself out though, except where I know I can coast along.

City centre driving you want max regen, whereas open road, motorway etc you want minimum regen as a rule of thumb. It’s not as easy as you think to say ease off the throttle to slowly shed speed which you might want to do after an overtake on a country road. Ease off with max regen set and you can cause the brake lights to come on easily as well as inadvertently brake checking the car behind. Some recommend covering the brake with your foot on fast country roads when passing side roads or other risks, if max regen is set your car slows quite abruptly when doing so requiring you to keep your foot on the gas to not slow down.

If the regen is anything like my old Outlander, then having regen on max will result in the driver brake testing everyone behind every-time you come off the throttle. You can also use various levels of regen as a brake without touching the brake pedal....

I haven't had an EV with variable regeneration other than via touchscreen menus and I have learned to drive with a single pedal. Takes more concentration (and right ankle strength - and lots of cruise control) but I enjoy it - not sure I would use variable regen

All makes sense; it's a personal preference thing.

It is a different way of driving, although I actually quite like the extra dimension of single pedal driving and treating the 'throttle' as negative as well as positive speed control (you know what I mean, it's difficult to put in words!), but I do use cruise control a lot.

Having said this, it can lead to a few panic moments when driving either of my cars after my wife's EV and first coming up to a junction a bit sharpish after not having the regen helping slow down initially - a quick bit of mental recalibration required biglaugh

I had the same thought. I routinely cover the brake with the car effectively coasting (ICE) in such situations, in town and on the open road.
Maybe it's time for a variant of the old art of "Heel-and-toe" to make a comeback!

Also, with the paddle controls, I guess you can increase regen braking much like dropping down through the gears.

Think I might have the first bashed one!

Car pulled out into the side of my wife. Suspect they're going to be surprised at the cost on this one. i would hope the battery is ok but want to get it checked.
