New Roadster purchase

Hi All,
I’m considering buying a new roadster having had one in the past and. Coupe but now following a series of Porsche. Having looked at all sorts of things for what will be a weekend car it’s down to the Vantage or a 911 s cabriolet.
I had a hefty discount on both previous Astons and I’m aware that at one stage the new Vantage was being discounted. The present situation isn’t clear to me so I’d be grateful for any pointers as ‘to what ,if anything, is possible for a factory order or a stock car.

Yes indeed, in November and December 2019 the new Vantage was being more than discounted, that sales promotion cost AML £35m. Many of those cars are expected to soon be returning to the used market.
The company now claim that they are only building cars to order, to avoid a repeat of the dealer overstocking. Try for a discount and see what happens. Sometimes the end of September can be a good time, because there might be a quarterly dealer sales incentive. That applies to used, not sure if it is new as well.
If you live in north Wales, it might be best to avoid the main dealer in the 'posh' county across the border. It is uncanny, but there is a rumour, that even the faintest mention of the word discount, immediately induces deafness amongst their salesmen.
I've secured discounts on both in stock and factory specced Aston's previously but haven't bought anything Aston since Covid etc.
I think a lot will depend upon your relationship with the dealer and own negotiation ability but obviously Covid itself has also changed the rules plus the other issues of chip shortages and indeed a shortage of both new and used car availability.
Aston's own changed business model is a further complication for you no doubt.
Either way would be curious to learn how you get on and good luck with any negotiation.

If it's a pre built car in stock then I'd expect you'd get a discount but not if you order one to your spec. I swapped my new V8 Coupe for the new V8 roadster and I think the roadster is the better car - the ride quality is improved over the coupe and in general a little less aggressive which I think suits the car better.I’m considering buying a new roadster having had one in the past and. I'd spec up what you want in the car then get the dealer to check with HQ to see if they have a close match - I did this with mine and they found me the exact car I'd spec but already built (albeit at a different dealer from my local one). The car hadn't yet gone on sale and AM organised the deal including me buying it from my preferred local dealer.
Well having tried hard I got something of a discount-£10k against a factory car. But not enough given an apr of 6.5 and a worry that the big discounts are around the corner once there is sales pressure. The old big discounts come back to bite again I suppose as to find my car suddenly another £10k cheaper would sicken me. 911 GTS it is then it seems.

Should it not be about the car that you actually want?.
I am lucky to have purchased two Vantage roadsters in the past and decided to try Porsche (Boxster GTS, Macan Turbo and 911 GTS Convertible) and now back to Aston.
Porsche cars are very good have everything that you need but to be honest I got bored with each of them and trade in values given by the dealers were lower than We Buy Anycar.
With the Porsches got fed up with drivers getting right up my backside trying to force me to go faster and not being let out at junctions.
With the Aston people actually slow down waiting for you to overtake so that they can look at the car and no problem being let out at junctions.
Try before you buy otherwise you may be disappointed.
