I know it's not recent, but this has been plaguing me for about 2 years!! Before the fixed scameras were placed on Town Street, Rodley, Leeds, they had a series of mobile ones placed there (in unmarked vans and with no warning signs). I know this because I was caught doing 39 in a 30. Situation as follows: I was following my wife in her Rav 4, me in my TVR and we were going at equal speeds. Passed the unmarked van and a bit further on I looked in the mirror and saw the 2 cameras. Hmm I thought, we're going to get done. And indeed I was, but only me. My only explanation is that whoever looks at these pictures (if indeed anyone does) thought - flash car, we'll have him - but left my wife alone. Any milage in my scepticism? Cheers in advance for your observations.

Perhaps they couldn't see the Rav4's plate if you were close to her ? They might discriminate but I'd have thought it more likely they would take the £60 from as many people as possible, 4x4, lorry, van, car, bike or whatever.

Sounds like a manually operated system so even it you where not very close to your wife's car still may not had chance to get a shot in before you came into view?
