Currently looking at either Audi Q4 , BMW i4 or the Kia ev6 as a co car for the wife

For the Audi I see a heat pump can be specced .... Is the heat pump nice to have or a must have ? Anyone got an idea on how many extra miles range you might have during the winter months ?

if your in the south of England with warm winters a heat pump wont make a lot of difference

if your somewhere where it regularly goes into the negative C's and ice a heat pump will increase range abit, if your home charging thou would it make any difference

being able to preheat the car (especially whilst its plugged in) via the app is far more important IMO

Heat pump is also an option on the EV6 BTW.

We have ordered one for our Q4 but researching it beforehand it was not clear how much difference it will really make. Different views from different sources but as someone is already said, definitely only makes a difference if it is very cold. The best advice I saw was if you happen to do a lot of journeys at the range limit of the car in winter it might be the difference between having to stop for a charge and not, otherwise probably a waste of time. It won’t save enough electricity to pay for itself. We go to our place in Devon in winter which I think the Q4 will just make without charging and I would hate to find that the heat pump was the difference and I didn’t have one If the journey was 20-30 miles further we would almost certainly be stopping anyway, so no need for the pump.
