Where did the seas come from?

When the Earth was in it's infancy it was a dry scorched planet, so where did all the water come from?
Either that or God knocked over his bed-time pint of water (a God-pint is much, much bigger than an earth pint)... and the water arrived on Earth that way.

No it wasn't. It was volcanic and volatile. Yes it was hot, but the elements and molecules were always there, albeit in gaseous form (early atmosphere was rich in hydrogen, h2)...the vulcanism released a lot of sulphur and other elements/molecules into the atmosphere, which bonded with existing gaseous h2o into heavier molecules such that they fell as acid rain...as more rain fell on the earth, the earth's surface cooled, allowing more "rain" to coalesce and fall...the early seas were rather poisonous places to be, to be honest.
I don't know how long it took for the seas to take their present form, or quantity though. Google can probably help.
