Different beaches same day if I've understood correctly.

Why on earth would you go swimming in rough seas like the ones shown, all over 60 by the looks of it! numpties

Because swimming in big waves is a blast? In other news 60+ people climb mountains, race motor cars and do other risky stuff.

I spend a lot of time in the mountains and in and on the water, your point doesn't really work, its sounds like a few old duffers went in the see because they always do, and it turned out to be a big mistake, I highly doubt they were adventurers or risk takers

I spent a lot of time on the beaches around Agde/Sete/Marseillan in my younger years.

Virtually tideless Med you’d think would be OK - but wicked undertows often on the calmest of days. Drownings not unusual sadly.
