Chaps, swapping my Ryzen 5 2600 out for a 3700x and was wondering which cooler to put on. Currently have a Coolermaster Masterliquid 240 on the 2600 and dont know whether to keep this or swap out for the bundled Wraith Prism air cooler

Any advice appreciated.....

The Coolermaster AIO is probably leagues ahead of the Wraith air-cooler, so I'd stick to that...and unless the AIO is faulty/past its best, the it will be probably be quieter too.

Just need to ensure your paste is cleaned off & reapplied properly.

If anything, the 3700x should run a little cooler (certainly not much higher temps) so I would just keep your current cooler if you are happy with it.

The Wraith Prism is actually quite decent - surprisingly comes with some LEDs - but perhaps a little on the loud side when ramped up. However, they are a royal PAIN to remove thanks to the clip system and the sticky pad. Managed to end up with thermal pad gum on the pins of my 3700x when I swapped it out for a 5900x recently.

My current desktop, running that processor and Corsair AIO - snip from the Corsair iCUE dashboard.

I've a 5950x, and use the Noctua big jobby (NH-D15)... and seem fine, with temps usually around 60 in normal gaming, peaking to 70 on occasion. CPU max is 90. Quiet cooler too, queiter than my old H110i

Well swapping it out was painless. Flashed the BIOS and in it went. To avoid having to take out the m/b to fit the wraith, I put the Corsair AIO back on and it seems to be doing ok. Sitting idle at about 35-40 but jumps to about 50 with activity. Briefly played F1 without any overheating issues but haven't had a chance to check the temp yet.

Whilst checking the BIOS version before upgrade, I noticed that for some reason it had reverted to running the RAM at 2133mhz instead of the 3400. Dont know how long that had been going on

MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon. It's set to, and holding at 3400 now and not switching to 'Auto'
