Wow... given half the people on here are IT geeks...

Don't think I've actually been more moved or upset by many others passing.

Thanks you Sir Clive. You changed my life.

Legend.

At and the age of 81. That's beautifully poetic.

In an age of mediocrity, a giant has passed. RIP.

Sir Clive got me into computing hardware and programming.
This resulted in a very successful career, which allowed me to retire at 48yrs old.

Thank you Clive.

Using the instruction set printed in the back of the ZX81 manual to hand assemble code to create very simple games, poked into RAM by a rudimentary hex editor. Then having precisely one frame flash in front of your eyes to try and work out what you'd done wrong. Rinse and repeat, all night.

That's the beginnings of my career, right there. 1k space invaders and 1k missile command got me a job, and I've not looked back (actually that bit's a lie, I spent some time in embedded systems).

Thanks Clive, you did good.

Terribly sad to hear he has passed away.

He changed lives, and inspired a generation of tech enthusiasts.

Oh Christ this is sad news.

An 18 year career in the video games business thanks to him I hope his headstone is kind of black with little grey rectangular letters and a flash of colour in one corner

Don’t know about that, he missed the semi colon at the end of the print statement. Amateur! smile
