Drivers seat repair
Discussion
Hi. My Drivers seat bolster needs repairing - Tuscan seats.
How easy is it to remove/refit the seat? I remember seeing Ed do it on Wheeler Dealers and I think he welded the bolt to the seat rail before refitting it ??
Any recommendations as to where to get the seat repaired local to North Hampshire, Berkshire, Surrey borders.
Thx

I've had my original cerbera seats out which was easy enough, although bolt length was an issue with wanting to keep them as short as possible and the puffiness of the carpet. I ended up putting longer ones in the pull the seat into the carpet, then swapping for shorter one by one.
No idea with the Tuscan seats but the original cerbera seats are very heavy.
You don't need to weld the nut, as a big screwdriver placed between the nut and the rail holds it in place easily.

Does the bolster need reupholstering or just re-fixing?
It needs fixing as opposed to reupholstering. It's been saggy and misshapen since I bought the car in 2011 but it's been very low down on my list of priorities. It also needs to be re-attached in the bottom where it's fixed to the seat base - the nut has come off recently and just needs reattaching. This is what has motivated me to get it fixedGazzab said:

Didn’t you fix yours 8 years ago?

The seats come out relatively easily:
The 4 nuts under the chassis members are relatively accessible. It'sjust as soon as you've taken 'the pinch' off then the bolt heads turn within the runners
so you have to jam summat up the runner to stop 'em turning.
The 4 bolts that anchor the runners to the seat are fiddly to get to but once you've libricated the seat bolster (Ooer, Mrs !)
they come out relatively easy.
The problem with mine was the entire structure of the frame had collapsed so I replaced th driver's with a series 1 seat which has firmer bolsters (Superb for Poohan !)
When replacing the seat, I found it easier to fix the chassis bolts in place with a flat nut before I tried to re-install the seat into the cockpit.
I didn't have to worry abouth the boltheads turning after that
