I get the impression they've over played what she said a little bit to be honest

She wasn’t equalities minister at the time and frankly retro fitting a fast moving cultural development to something she said 3 years ago seems a bit ripe.

And then there are the following paragraphs:
article said:
The phrase transsexual, like transvestite and transgenderism, is often considered outdated and offensive by many trans people.
.....
Misgendering trans women may go against UK equality laws. An employment tribunal ruling in 2019 concluded that, "Calling a trans woman a man is likely to be profoundly distressing. It may be unlawful harassment." An employment tribunal appeal in 2021 backed this up, ruling "the Claimant [cannot] go about indiscriminately “misgendering” trans persons with impunity".
How on earth is transsexual now offensive!.....

Employment tribunals do not constitute U.K. equality laws.
I find it extraordinary how a certain bubble has gone racing off like a hare, leaving the vast majority of people in their wake wondering wtf they are on about.

From FPFW
Ex-BBC LGBT correspondent and Stonewall ally Ben Hunte has written this hit piece on Equalities Minister.
He talks about the law - but as usual its more "how he wants it to be" rather than what it actually is 1/
She is being damned for using the term "transsexual".
This is the correct legal terminology used in the Equality Act 2010. /2
She is also accused of "misgendering" by using the word men. Again the correct legal term for people who share the protected characteristic of the male sex as used in the Equality Act. In law transwoman are considered 'men'. It's also a legitimate concern voiced by many woman /3
Wild accusations of 'unlawful harassment' thrown about by Ben Hunte. Intended to cause damage and not inform readers
No individual transwomen was being referred to as a 'man'. No harassment. Simply a minister discussing issues in her private office 3 years ago /4
Stonewall is "shocked" by the "hurtful and harmful" comments.
The author Ben Hunte has close ties with Stonewall /5
Ben Hunte was sacked as BBC's LGBT correspondent shortly after writing this shocking BBC article following the Keira Bell Puberty blocker ruling.
Following complains huge swaths of the article was deleted by the BBC /6
The BBC said Ben Hunte's BBC article "did not meet BBC standards ... on reporting suicide".
It was a one-sided piece with "expert" quotes from disgraced GP Helen Webberly and Adrian Harrop.
Ben Hunte produces propaganda not news /7
Once again, another predictable attempt to silence and smear women talking about legitimate concerns about the consequences of gender ideology.
These smear tactics do nothing but hinder a path to resolution. That damages us all, including trans people. /8
Is there a recording or transcript of this conversation? Or perhaps, a more credible source such as BBC or Guardian?

I see Guido has noted that Vice/Hunte provided no evidence by way of the hatchet job and that Badenoch has a history of punching back. I hope she does.

And yes the Jess Brammar from HuffPost defending their nonsense has just been appointed Head of News at the BBC.

And the left wonder why the right keep on winning elections and confidence in the neutrality of the BBC is at an all time low.

She's not a minister for LGBTQ equality she is the junior Minister for Women and Equalities, covering the representation of women and equality with men. She is standing up for women, her job.
Her job description *literally says* she is responsible for transgender equality. https://www.gov.uk/government/ministers/minister-f...

I think they would just prefer you to take their word for it that you’d be outraged if you heard it, rather than just letting you hear it. It's part of how this works, they just report their reaction to it which then blows up and becomes 'fact'.https://order-order.com/2021/09/17/vices-shoddy-ke...
