I've stepped up my car search from E60/61 5-series' to F10. F10 is my preference but I'd have an F07 5GT if I can find one in the right spec.

Two options that would be nice-to-have are ACC and ventilated seats. I've used ACC on various hirecars and found it useful, and whilst I've never tried ventilated seats I thought they could be useful on long trips.

I think I've tracked down where I should be looking for the controls thanks to a copy of the owners' manual online: ACC is two extra buttons above and below the CC wheel, and ventilated seat buttons are next to the heated seat buttons with a "seat outline + fan" glyph. However I'm drawing a blank when I look for cars with these buttons to the extent that I'm starting to doubt if they were even available options in the UK and there's no point in holding out for one! I'm past the £25k point and knee-deep in G30s now, so I would have thought I'd have seen at least one of each by now but no.

So, ACC and ventilated seats - were these available on UK F10, F11 and F07s?

Yes there were both available as options but very rare. Even rarer if not impossible to find a car with both!

Yeap, both. I've seen a few F10s with ACC, I've yet to see one with ventilated seats (S453 code)...

I think issue with tying yourself a particular and rare spec when buying an old car means you can't actually do what you should be doing and that's buying on condition first and foremost.

But... Buying on condition means you're tying yourself to a car that isn't what you're after tongue out

I can certainly see your viewpoint - I've never been interested in the colour of a car and am bemused when people turn down an otherwise perfect specimen because it's the wrong shade of grey.

I'm after a 550i as the logical replacement for an E500 so I'm already looking for a rare model. It's not uncommon for premium models to have additional spec to help justify the price hike (when new) over the base models, and given the number of "£10k of extras!" ads then you would think someone would have seen ACC as more useful than eg 360 cameras. If they were never common then I can put them aside and stop looking for them. thumbup

Thanks both - I'll stop looking for them.
