Hi all,

I've always had inject printers at home and because the use is very infrequent (often months without use) the ink invariably dries up and I get blocked jets etc.

I want to switch to a laser printer to avoid this pitfall. I want one with the following:

- wireless capability
- ability to function as a colour scanner
- can be black ink only or full colour ink if the cost difference isn't massive (predominantly used for printing documents)
- would prefer something physically on the smaller size but not a deal breaker
- abilty to use aftermarket (ie cheap!!) Laser ink cartridges or whatever they are. I detest the ridiculous prices charged for "genuine" printer ink
- budget is as little as possible for something half decent, I don't know what I need to spend but willing to spend what is necessary if that makes sense?

Other than that, I can't think of anything else unless I've missed something?

Over to the experts on here smile

I have a Canon colour/duplex scan. It was more expensive per page than the Kyocera equivalent the sales were recommending but I chose it as it has a very fast startup to first page print which is more important to me

The toners print thousands of pages, so I wouldnt be too caught up in your 3rd party supplier requirements. The main brands can be found cheap if you look around.

Just look for any manufacturer promotions (cashback) , reviews, warranty (ideally onsite) and buy to your budget.

Previous threads on here have said Brother is a good brand to go for.

You'll need to specify a size as most laser printers take up more space than inkjets

Lasers - always had great service from HP.

I currently have a 277 colour laser multifunction....looks like the 283 which I assume took its place in the range.

Don't expect photo quality printing of photos...but for colour documents it's great.

I don't know what sizes they come in, but as per my original post I would prefer something on the smaller size if possible. If not possible, then whatever size they come in (so long as it's not as big as a washing machine wink )

I came to the same conclusion a long while back and have a cheap Brother laser printer for A4 printing, duplex and networkable.

You can get good quality pattern toner cartridges for Brother printers. I have had a Brother multifunction device for nearly 10 years now and it has provided sterling service for over 20,000 pages.
