Hy everyone, I seem to have a blown motor on my drivers side window, its ben opening and closing slowly, but yesterday it packed up all together, A helpfull guy from the AA (makes a change huh?) came and did a good few checks on the wires and said I might be able to get new bushes put in the motor if I'm lucky and if not , that I would have to get a new motor. BUT he said that this would mean taking off the door panel and that was going to end up costing a bomb!can anyone give me any advice or a part number please, or recommend any where that migh be able to do the job at a reasonable rate, He did check the relay and that was fine,I do have blonde streaks and therefor need you to explain in simple terms, thanks a lot Vinny

when I saw 'blown motor' I assumed it was serious! if you can get the door card off check out the motor drive assembly, it'll probably need greasing. Get some ptfe spray from halfords and spray this on the window guides, spray what you cansee with WD40 and leave it for a bit, if this fails go to your bank manager

sorry to be such a drama queen, but i thought a dramatic title would get some help and attention. I have a concert on Saturday and will be gettig seriously drunk afterwards as I have gone cold turkey for the past three weeks so that I could concentrate on all the lyrics I have had to learn! BUT if (after a big greasy fry up)in the morning I manage to quell my throbbing head I will be there, Hope you are OK Nick and look forward to seeing you and your car V soon Vin

Had a similar problem on the Cerb. Turned out to just be a bad connection to te spade terminals on the motor. 5 mins with a set of allen wrenches to remove the inner door panel and the glass, 'cos the window had stuck down of course. I had free access to the window winder motor. The moulded seal around the spades prevented one of them actually fitting onto the motor, It sat to one sid instead. The motor got slower over a month or so then gave up.

Never had to remove the inner panel on a Chimaera but I expect the winder is similar.

This is driving me mad, thanks for your replies, I think I need someone to check it out for me, I dont trust myself with removing the inner panel coz I think its glued, there doesn't seem to be any allen key socket thingys, and I have a horrible vision of yanking it all of and not being able to get it put back on again,If the problem isn't very obvious. I think I just need someone I can trust to do the work and not rip me off by telling me I need a new every thing and charge me an arm and a bloody leg! Like they do when they see a TVR. PLEASE HELP LIL OL MOI SOS

Has anyone taken the panel off the door?

If so how, as I don't fancy making a mess

Reason being is that I appear to be missing some padding or runner along the drivers side window and it's starting to annoy me as the window rattles when driving and when closing the door...

cheers...

There was another thread on this but I can't find it

1. Take the speaker out
2. Undo the 3 veryhardtoreach 10 mm nuts that hold on the trim

These nuts should only be finger tight (you can't get a ratchet in there easily anyway) I find it easiest to use a 1/2 inch drive socket to use with my fingers

Best of luck
