Chim 400 vs T350i

Was driving home from work in my 97 Chim 400 and followed a fellow TVR owner in his noisy T350i. Down a flat 1 mile straight I saw him floor it so I did and I kept on him right up to 100 and then was gaining, but this might be as he was backing off.

Point is, I couldn't gain on him up to 100. I appreciate he floored it before me, but it seemed like a quick car. Or perhaps my Chim is under powered. I've also been beaten by a M3 Evo E36 which makes me wonder.

I assume you mean a wedge 350 and not a new style T350 (otherwise you wouldn't be moaning about your car's performance).

I suggest a tune up, Mark Adams rechip and rolling road tuneup

My Chimaera 4.0L was neck and neck with an E46 M3 (and he was trying) up to 'fast enough thank you' speeds. An E36 M3 is a little slower (but still quick).

Hmmmm, interesting. My old chum waytoofastbaz had an E36 M3 Evo and I could see him off no problem in my 400. Though up above a ton (on the deserted airfield that we have ociffer)his extra horses would rein me in a bit. Actually, they would rein me in a lot and I'd end up a good few car lengths behind by 140. But off the mark - eat my dust bubba!

No idea about the 350 though, never been up against one.

Edit - He now has an YZF R1 and just takes the p!ss. But the Chim sounds nicer

I've beaten a few M3's up to legal speed (obviously ossifer) though AFAIK all have been standard.
If the T350 you mean is the new speed six and not a wedge then I'm surprised you managed to keep up. They are damned quick cars both on the straight and the twisties.

Yes it was a Wedge, apparently 0-60 in around 6 seconds. A Chim 400 does it around 5 seconds, which isn't a massive diference I guess. I think it all depends on when you "go for it" and I wasn't flooring it until I saw him pulling away quickly.

It was a noisy Wedge though so wonder if it had any other mods.
