No practical purpose of this thread other than to say we've had a burst water main outside our work and we have no running water, so we've all been sent home from the office.

it's the little wins that make me smile in life smile

Exactly that happened at my place in 2012, first thing in the morning. For the next 4 years, the Director didn’t let anyone leave 2 hours early on Christmas Eve when the rest of the building filed out!

Where I used to work when this sorta thing happened it was always the same people who took it upon themselves to go home. We had no ac for a day, lots of experts on HSE all trotted out the door

Toaster caught in fire and the fire brigade were auto summoned, the usual mob, grabbed their car keys and fled home, everyone else took early lunch and got on with it

We had the no water thing and the general unofficial consensus was if you needed a turd, you walked round to sainsburys/ m&s or McDonald’s, if you needed a piss you just washed it down with water from the hot water tank or water cooler.
