British security services deserve our grattitude

Very often the security services get stick for not knowing about tragic events ahead of time. Equally, the successes they achieve can never be publicised for security reasons.
Occasionally, like over the last couple of weeks, they become more prominent because they need information from the general public. When you consider the speed and efficiency at which they operate, it's astounding. And we only see the tip of the iceberg.
So, if there are any members of the security services who actually read PH, I for one, would like to say:
"Thank you for doing a fantastic job and protecing our arses - even when we didn't know they needed protecting!"

Damn skippy! I have thought this a number of times over the past two weeks. These people are basically putting their lives at risk for me and my liberty.
On 7/7, when I sat at my desk and heard the sirens etc, watched the calm way the emergency services deal with people and the incident and the way in which they worked SO hard to ensure we got home I have to say I was hugely humbled.
Even the rail staff who I usually think are a bunch of muppets amazed me with their efficiency.
I had been thinking of setting up a website where anyone can post their words of gratitude (sort of like a "petition of thanks" where even just a name would do), so people like me could sybomlically say "ta". But, I didn't - can't do internet stuff y'see. And my room needed decorating...

We have the best Intel services in the world. The thing that makes our people strong in the face of adversity is the same we see in our Intel services, emergency services and Forces.
We are still a great country full of great people. I think sometimes we forget to look at all the good stuff like the man yesterday who on hearing the explosion grabbed his first aid kit and ran down into the tube station with complete disregard for his own safety to try and help others.
