Hi,

I lost one of my T-Top on a german highway and a truck crashed it. I'm looking for another one but in france it's really difficult to find one. Is there someone who can help me to have an used one or a brand new ? What is the price of this material ? Do you know a solution to avoide to lose it again ?

Thanks
Aurélien

I'd try phoning a TVR dealer or specialist - if you're a club member there are plenty listed in Sprint. I seem to remember they're extremely expensive for what they are, as in hundreds of pounds each even without the covering. You may get lucky and find a second hand one if you post a 'wanted' add on pistonheads and in Sprint.

There should be four pegs on each panel stopping it lifting out, that can't release unless you release the rear over-center stays. Also the catch on the front of each panel should mean even if the stays came loose, the panel can't move away from the windscreen and so can't blow out. Did you have all these catches and pegs fitted and done up?

The early S didn't have the over centre catches on to the windscreen, mine didn't. Yes the lugs should be enought but one must be careful. After the roof panel lifted on one occasion and flew off on another. I spotted the (then) new S3 had these extra catches, so I phoned Blackpool and got one which I use to keep the drivers panel down. A few years later Portfields modifed the mounting on to the panel during one service! If you have an early S may be a good idea to add them, there was a recent thread saying RS did them.
Sorry, don't know where to get a new panel.

Presumably, if there's any movement in the rear roof section, particularly at speed, this could be enough just to let the lugs come free and the panel become airborne. That would account for the catches being added.

Why not try somewhere like Douglas Valley Breakers. I`m sure they should have some, don`t know how much it would cost for shipping though.

Perhaps you could even get someone to drop one off on their way to/from le-mans?? Just a thought.

Roy.
