Found this surprising. Wonder if all electric cars will be vulnerable as they get older ?

its not the age, its that the early model S cars are beta test vehicles as tesla learned how to do cars, flooded old model S are what started uncle rich

apart from the shell there's almost nothing of the original s left on the latest version

It's a significant spend on something that is 8yrs old. You could be forgiven for thinking what if I buy a Tesla now and plan on keeping it long term as unlike diesel engines it should be evergreen. Then in 7yrs time there's a significant cost issue due to a unforseen design issue and Tesla stick the finger up?

For me EVs should come with 10yr warranties...

The battery warranty on a Tesla Model 3 is 8 years. How long do most manufacturers warranties last on a petrol or diesel car?

Seems like a freak one off occurrence as this isn’t something I’ve heard of as being a “thing”. Although seems like this website is being alarmist and trying to.

Either way, water damage repair is something you would normally be able to claim on insurance for.

Yeah, thats weird. I know 3 different people in 3 different climates that have Model S's - all have had or currently own early ones. Never reported any water ingress issues or problems. I know thats a very small sample, but not heard of this before.

At the very least Tesla should schedule an inspection in say 5 years or so. Very poor customer service and it will lose a lot of potential customers. I will ask them to check the integrity of my seals visually when the car gets a few years on it.

Sorry - that’s not an ‘unforeseen’ design issue. Just piss poor design and testing.
