Bad news good news

Just got my car back from David Appleby. 2006 Vantage with 78,000 on the clock. Missed last years service due to Covid.
So the bad news....
Clutch on last legs, subframe badly corroded, some work on the exhaust required. Also the racing nitrons I had fitted about 4 years back need a rebuild.
Now the better news, if not good. DAE is on the move and will be setting up shop off the M5 near Taunton. Nearly a home game for me. Yep bit selfish, but brings one of the top specialists to Somerset.
Will be moving into their new unit next month and open for business in November.

Bugger. One man's gain is another man's loss. I've not used DAE but had a long conversation with them at the recent Heritage event and had bookmarked them as a potential for eventual clutch work as they are in my locale. Are they moving in their entirety or setting up a satellite in the SW?
Full relocation. Seems someone made them an offer for their current unit & it was too good to resist. David is from the South West originally so heading home.
As regards the quality of their work I can vouch for it 100%. They have looked after my car for the last 10 years. Top people.

Yes, they did a great job on my 06 Vantage upgrading with the dual plate clutch and lightened flywheel, completely transformed the car. Likewise. I was in the process of arranging a first service with DAE when they dropped the bombshell about the relocation. Used BR for the last service and would be happy to do so again, but no response to my service request as yet. I don't think it would have taken Mike - some of the comments and implications were borderline libellous. The mods pruned it of some comments before for the same reason but some posters didn't seem to learn the lesson to be more circumspect. This is the problem - you "guess" and post but you have no evidence. Next thing you know your "guess" is being reported as fact and off goes the rumour machine. Again.
I'm also interested in where you get the information that BR are forum sponsors - not saying you're wrong, just curious.

I presume it refers to the BR topic on the front page. As a business related topic, I suppose payment is required.
( Completely unrelated Paul, have you seen mention of the Citroen Ami? It can be driven by 16 year olds in UK, 14 year olds in France and I don't think it requires a driving licence. The front body panel is identical to the rear body panel. That is a novel idea. You can only tell which way it is going, because the headlights are not red. The left door is rear hinged and the right door is front hinged. Not sure why, maybe the same door can be used on both sides. Apart from providing no accident protection, an interesting idea. The sort of car a circus clown could use. )

BR do indeed sponsor the thread at the top of the AM section. No idea why given how busy they seemingly are. Perhaps to stop others getting it

Not really, no. I was aware that France had some weird rules for young people driving but not really studied the cars they could use, so I had to Google it. Apparently they are bringing it to the UK (although it'll need a normal driving licence). And it does look like the same door on both sides. I can imagine this sinking without trace.I'd also be interested in its crash performance data

Such a shame that the lack of communication created unnecessary anxiety for you.
Making a telephone call to you, explaining the delay would only have taken them a few minutes.
