Information Commissioner's Office - Data Protection Fee
Discussion
I have a tiny limited company, employing only my wife. We've got three customers. It's a tiny sub-income pin money business.
I received a demand from the ico.org.uk today telling me I needed to pay annual fee of £40-60 for processing personal information.
Is this really a thing? I only send invoices to three companies and two are non UK.
Does anyone else have experience of this?

Given what you've said, go through the workflow and you'll almost certainly find you don't have to do, or pay, anything.

Cheeky rev raiser for ICO.... 4,000,000 + companies in UK get the letter x £40-60 !
In my experience the ICO do naff all on legit complaints anyway, a pointless organisation.
Let me guess - if you don't pay, do they suddenly put their tea and biscuits down and get very active prosecuting the culprit? In my experience the ICO do naff all on legit complaints anyway, a pointless organisation.
I’d like to know a bit more about this as I’ve been asked to pay it for my 2 companies. One I filled the online form in saying I didn’t need to and haven’t heard anything since (this was 6 months ago). Had a letter this week for second company which I will have to pay.
What exactly am I paying for? What do the ICO do?

Christ knows. I wonder if they have a website or something?Whether it’s worth it is an entirely different discussion
