Credit card charges.

Is it me or are these people taking longer and longer to process payments in an attempt to raise more from late charges ???

I just got my statement through from my card people and theres a late payment charge of 20 squids..the second Ive had this year .. damn annoying as I sent it 1st class on on the 6th with the due date being the 12th.. A few years back I used to send in my payment with 2 days to spare and never had a problem.

Well, to be fair , don't they say they need 5 working days for a cheque to clear ?

Pay online, and schedule it to arrive the day before the due date just in case.

I wouldn't trust the post office to deliver anything worth real money where timing is an issue.

Some credit card providers allow you to run your credit card account online-Barclaycard do for instance, then you can pay by debit card.

I like the idea of the online facility, and have a dormant Barclaycard account.. will look into that..

Recently i went into my bank to make a credit card payment,i used cash and the cc payslip and it was 7 days before due date,but the next thing i hear is ive incurred a late payment charge because the cash took longer to reach the cc company??,so i rang the cc company and explained ,ok they reinbursed me but i found out thru the phone conversation sending a cheque thru the post(what i normally do)would get there quicker than Cash going thru the bank system??


Today in my bank the teller informs me that they are doing 9 months int free on c/cards (Visa or M/card),,i tell them i have a M/card so if i take them up on the visa will the offer apply to me,,no she sez i have to be a new customer

I have a DD arrangement so my credit card is paid off in full each month. On the one occasion they goofed, didn't take payment and charged me, they automatically deducted the charge next time. That's Capital One: seems very good.

MBNA will reverse the charges on late cheques if you tell them you sent it before the due date. Just call and ask

They will also reduce your interest rate or do 1.9% balance transfers if you ask nicely. When I was buying a house they gave me 18 months (3 x 6 month) worth of v cheap credit to furnish it.

I have only ever paid online or by phone. If you pay by phone they will normally date the payment on the day you make the call not the actual clearing date.
