Is this not what 75% of private hire taxis are?
Shows reliability.

Had a 2015 Scout (4x4 version) for 2 years from new…
Cracking car - handles whatever you throw at it - huge inside handles well and surprisingly nippy if you remain in the rev band…

But a slightly dull car
Sent it back at the end of the lease and bought an e39 M5 instead smile

Also had a 2009 Scout with the 150HP diesel for 3 years, bought it at 2 years old...

Completely trouble free motoring - and with all seasons on went just about anywhere,....

I've found a good one, 2016 with full Skoda history. It needs a new clutch which maim dealer is doing..

That's the only fly...

But it'll be good for 25mile commute, 100miles twice weekly for hobby etc etc.

5 years old - it's due a timing belt if not already done

I desperately wanted a Scout but couldn't get on with the seat comfort. Not immediately apparent so make sure you have a good test drive. This was in 2011 though so may well have changed.

Nope, I’ve got a 2015 Scout, the seats are dreadful.

I came from a Volvo so the difference was quite shocking. A 20 mile test drive didn’t show how uncomfortable they are.

18,000 miles down and I’ve sort of got used to them but I’ll not be sad to see it go.

It does everything else pretty well though.

I bought a V50. Scout was exactly what I needed apart from a bad back

Well in 2019 I drove Aygo from Manchester to Central Paris, Fontainbleu, Reims, Ardennes, Bruges and I didn't feel any back ache at all

...so I think the Octavia will be OK laughtongue out

Great car and engine, had it in multiple Golfs and Octavia's.
Regarding seat comfort, Volvo do it incredibly well, but I was doing around 3000 miles a month in Octavias and it wasn't a problem. Now I'm used to a Volvo I might feel differently.

This is widely repeated but incorrect. Manufacturer interval is 140k miles and doesn't have a specific "due" age.

Skoda UK's website says 5yrs or 50K!! miles.

I recall the EA288 diesel (which I think is what's being referred to) was originally said to have a 'lifetime' belt. But the UK versions of the various VAG brands are in denial about that. VW Germany told me it's 210,000kms, so 130K miles, with no time limit. When I queried why VW UK was adamant it's 5yrs they stoped responding.

From the OP's posts I assumed the purchase is from a Skoda main dealer.

if buying from a Skoda main dealer and Skoda UK says 5 years belt interval then I'd be expecting the belt to be changed - no ?

fwiw, my CC has just had its second belt change at 160k with the first being done at 75k. the car is a late 2015. On inspection the Waterpump and tensioners were still in very decent condition but the belt was looking a bit worse for wear and was ready for changing.

Belt and water pump need to be changed.
My 2008 scout ate its (2nd) water pump bearings at about 120k. Luckily the belt stayed on so engine was ok, just made a dreadful noise.
My clutch was still fine at 140k. Only other engine problem i had was a leaky air inlet hose, fixed with a £2 gasket.
Interesting that by some fluke the 8v 2.0 they used in the scout seems to have done a lot better with the dpf than the 16v version.

Factory data on a 2017 1.6 TDI 150PS.

That's from erwin, i.e. the manufacturer, in Germany. Not a franchise, regional office, or someone dipping their hand into your wallet.

Yet there’s a couple of people in the thread who’ve had issues and both were half that mileage.

Have you ever had a car with extended warranty suffer failure belt beyond 5 yrs - I’m wondering if they could wriggle out of it? Mind you, it’s VAG - they’d probably say it was wear and tear anyway.
