If you had a mobile phone, say a Motorolla E1000 networked through 3, could you change the sim (or whatever) to change networks?

A mobile phone is typically locked to the network of the provider of that phone, therefore, if you wished to use a sim from another provider you would need to get that phone unlocked...

From my daliance with 3 not too long ago, it would appear that unlocking 3 phones for use on a "standard" network may be more tricky than other phones..

Your local phone "specialist" (ie, not CPW) may well be able to help you...
