With the current fuel situation is anyone feeling smug?

It was all the petrol and diesel drivers that were saying 'The grid can't cope' it seems that fuel supply can't keep up if everyone is told not to panic buy.

Dont do it - the boot might be on the other foot in the future, and it absolutely can come around and bite you!

I saw a taxi driver driving an accord once and thought he looked smug. Then I bought an accord and realised why.

Yep, think of this next time you have range anxiety.

Yeah I am, I bought a tank of diesel last week before the panic buying. So far done 220 miles with it and still got more range left than any electric vehicle smile.

I'm feeling smug. My car still has over half a tank left, and my other is an old diesel that runs on pretty much anything. One will do over 400 miles on a tank and the other over 700 miles. Both cost less than an iPhone.

It took me just under 20 minutes to fill the tank on my partners Polo, that's from joining the queue to driving off with a full tank...

... how long does it take to charge your car from reserve to fully charged?

The only time in a Seat Mii owner’s life, that he gets to feel ‘smug’.

No I’m kidding. Life is all about these little victories, enjoy it.

Gone from EV back to diesel. 200 miles range to 600+. Yes it costs more to run but I dont care.
No queues at any of my local petrol stations since this madness started thankfully.
Filled up this afternoon (cos I needed to!) with no issues.
More than happy!

The vast majority of charging at home because a) it’s cheap and b) it’s easy. My car would take about 8 or 9 hours to go from empty to full whilst parked here, but because it would be sat doing nothing anyway, it’s kind of irrelevant how long it takes. It essentially takes no time at all.

There’s also a very reliable supply of electricity… this isn’t the ‘70s. You can’t just turn the power off anymore as total chaos would ensue due to basically everything relying on computers.

yes, I would say enjoy it. While it lasts.... wink

Gas prices have gone through the roof.
Currenty 35% of our electricity is being generated from gas.
Fires in overseas cables can (have) had a significant impact on importing of electricity.

I am not convinced that electricity is that much more secure other fuels.

It makes me wonder how the grid would react if everyone with a car panic charged them due to some stupid newspaper headlines..... wobble

Picked up an i3 on Friday, irony was I could not get it off the dealers forecourt as all the roads were clogged up with people queuing for the petrol station next door!
