Been think about putting some stick on stripes on my car simular to this but in dark blue.

Question

1.Just wanted to know what the general consensus is yay or nay ?

2.How hard is it to do

3.When removed will they leave any marks on paint work.

4.Were can I buy them.

I think TMS have one for sale with strips. I guess you can sticky stuff from a good signwriters, or use lots of insulating tape ;-)

I know Hill-Mason Signs (01252 541315 - speak to John) put stripes on a silver T350 recently (might be the same one?). I had my stripes from them too. Was a little worried it'd look nasty, but it rocks!

I'd recommend 20cm stripes for the T350 though - those in the pic look a little weedy.

1. yay.
2. Difficult if you want it looking any good
3. possibly. Paint adhesion to fibreglass is not brilliant. You "should" be ok if you use a hairdryer when removing, but dont quote me on that - you know the risks...
4. Few places I can recommend - feel free to email me.

Yep. 5 hours. I started at the front and finished at the back (and you can tell!). It was only supposed to be temporary so I didn't take too much care over it. I'm growing quite fond of them though so they'll be on there until I can get them sprayed on.

A T350 shouldn't be too bad, but then the whole vinyl application thing is trickier than it looks. I learnt a lot as I was doing it (and I'd done a lot in the past). Given that John's recently done a T350 though...

Don't forget to post some pics!!

Yup, I agree - those things look way too weedy!

Quite a few cars in our Le Mans group put wide stripes on - a Tuscan, Honda S2000, Lotus Exige, and 350Z (temporarily) - I thought they all looked really good, go for it!

My only concern about leaving them on any length of time though is that you might end up with slightly less sun-faded paint under the stripes if you remove them?

They do but I believe its currently off road as its engine went bang! The attention those stripes attract is not IMHO a good thing - the chavs luv em!!

That my car!!!!! well it was, sold now! I fitted the strips myself, and its a real pain to do well, took a good few hour to do.

Make sure you use the right type of vynal, there are some stronger then others which could damage the paintwork. The main problem is taking them off, as the residue that stays on the car is a pain. Yopu can buy special glue remover which i did, and believe me, its amazing as its the exact solvent for the glue of the vynil.

you can find all your needs for vynil here www.grafityp.co.uk/vinyl.htm

Kinda - but I prefer Overhaulin'. The American clasics they restore on there are something else

Mrs.P. actually think the alloys in that pic are a little too 'bling' and do nothing for the car...but then she does not really like TVRs anyway!

I think that was Sacha's car that he ran in last years Cannonball run - IIRC the rears were rubbing in the arches, but the car was quite heavily laden. No idea if he required any special mods to get them to fit....

If you are going to put them on yourself, a little tip for you..

Use plenty of soapy water, fill a garden sprayer (having cleaned it out first) with water and fairy liquid, liberally spray the area that you are going to apply the graphic/stripe to and then float your vinyl on top of that until you are happy with it's orientation.

When you are happy, use a credit card with a protected edge (masking tape) to squeegee out the water/fairy mix..

Believe me... it makes life a LOT easier!
