Thought this may be of interest to some? It's usually one of the first suggestions when people ask for something to annoy a w
ker neighbour!
I'll attempt to keep it brief. Dad has long running running issues with a typical analy retentive wker neighbour. A friend of mine emigrated and I have agreed to sell his wife's car for them. Prior to this it needs a new clutch. I leave said car (taxed, tested, and insured) on the road in front wkers house. Waiting for the garage to be able to fit it in. Car there approximately 10 days, getting covered in crap from said wkers massively overgrown trees, adding to the abandoned look no doubt.
A couple of days before going into the garage my dad received a phone call from the council regarding a abandoned car. I wasn't there when they rang but apparently they received short shrift from my dad!
Anyway, 2 days later the cars in the garage being repaired and I sold it yesterday. It never went back to my dad's.
Today this letter arrived at my friend's old house threatening to tow the vehicle and subsequently destroy it as they believe he had no intention of moving it!
Like I said it's all done and dusted now and wker had no need to get his freshly pressed y-fronts in a twist but I'm intrigued in people's thoughts on it, especially with it being a common suggestion when winding up said wker neighbours!

Thought as much but it's there in black and white. RMBC obviously think they only need to 'think' it's abandoned in order to remove it. Well I'd be fking annoyed if someone left a broken car in front of my house for ages without telling me it was going to be moved and in what time frame. It's bad enough my neighbour does this to me with a taxed and insured car which barely ever moves, it's fking inconvenient for my visitors and deliveries and it's fking unsightly. Have some consideration further than "I'm entitled to leave it there so I fking well will".
Maybe you could have been less of a wker and told this other wker that it's yours and would be moving on in 10 days, or maybe you could have put it somewhere more considerate to the neighbour?
So much onanism going on in this post I think it probably showed up on the Richter Scale. Are you in Crete?

I have just been reading the legislation:

It would appear that the LA has the duty to act if a vehicle appears to be abandoned. Any need to wait until the tax etc runs out appears to have been removed.
From a quick read I could not see any definition of "appears to be abandoned"
Do you read it differently?

Couple of my neighbours have form for leaving Autotraders finest' sub-£500 'Spares or repairs' beauties strewn around the road (Limited parking).
One of them kept getting letters from the council, then one of them towed. He now only has two cars (and a van)
You sound like the bad neighbour TBH. If you want to do up old cars and sell them on, invest in some commercial space.

OP - you could just write a letter to the council and tell them the car is not in fact abandoned and they could do nothing.

If you don't like it go and buy a mansion where you can control who parks within a mile of your house. This might come as a shock to you but it is not illegal to park a car on a public road if it is taxed MOTd and insured, providing it is not causing an obstruction.
You obviously believe you have joined the entitled elite - you haven't. We all have share the same space and that includes the road that you don't own, even if it is outside your house.

Every. Single. Time. The neighbour reported it as abandoned, before finally yelling at me saying it was bringing down the value of her house. Council eventually told her to stop or they (and I) would report her for harassment. She stopped.

Don’t forget that a car on the road must also be in a road worthy state. I’m guessing that the council have written letters based on the neighbours call/email. I would bet, assuming it had 4 inflated tyres and no major damage the council would eventually have arrived to have a look and then told said busybody to FRO (assuming it’s in the condition claimed).
