Holiday, advice on where to go?

We are off on holls in a couple of months, would like to go for 7 days to somewhere quite cheap, we're thinking of less than £250 per person. So obviously somewhere Europey but that requires a plane flight.
Near the sea please, and hot. Dont want loads of screaming kids, nor a younsters haunt (ibiza, falaraki)
Want a bit of culture, nice food, a few bars and plenty to do- dont want to go there and sit on a beach for 7 days.
We've looked but there are hundreds to choose from and bit confused really as neither of us are well travelled in those areas.
I wanted Greek Islands or Canaries, but now after seeing all these names of places I'm not sure. :confused:
Any ideas?

In a couple of months time you could get somewhere like Dubrovnik fairly close to your budget. We're off there in a few weeks staying in a guesthouse for a fairly decent price.

for twisty driving roads, 
for food unless you like seafood or tough dried meat.

Are you talking about the same Brindisi that I went to? on the heel of Italy? I've only spent a total of 5 days there, and franly it was a shithole. Agreed, I didn't get too far away from it, but what I did see was enough to put me off.

Hartlepool! It has a marina, amusement arcades, pole-dancing, bingo, the lot....go to sharm, me and the mrs had a great diving holiday this year!
