Friends Green Porsche
Discussion
Recently stumbled across these guys on YouTube and very impressed by some young guys finding some love for the 996 and taking lots of preventative measure prior to selling cars.
Thoroughly enjoy the online vids which you don’t seem to see from other Porsche Specialist.
If you’re on here FGP keep it up !

As a 996 fan I do like watching their vids from time to time and their prep does seem decent.
There was this old thread below from 911uk where a buyer didn’t go ahead with a purchase but the FGP lad wouldn’t return his “refundable deposit”.
Seems like it was resolved eventually though and there are two sides to every story.

I quite enjoy throwing their videos on, and they come across as quite affable, but that’s easy to do on video.
That episode on 911UK, and more on the last page of that thread still give the impression of employing sharp practices which are easy to unearth in the small world of older 911 online circles.
Incidentally, in the early part of last year a family friend was looking for a 911 and had taken interest in FGP’s stock. Full-on post-retirement crisis, as you can imagine coming from a string of Jag saloons. A petrol-headed friend actually showed him that thread (or more accurately, printed it out for him
) and he ran a mile.
He likely wouldn’t bother doing much chasing up for 500 quid, I’m sure, but understandably can’t be arsed dealing with folks with this background. He can’t be the only one to have done this.
It amazes me that a trader in that fairly close-knit world would alienate themselves over the price of, in theory, a big night out; and in practice, nothing - as they would need to rectify the issues regardless.

As mentioned above I guess there are two sides to each story. That episode on 911UK, and more on the last page of that thread still give the impression of employing sharp practices which are easy to unearth in the small world of older 911 online circles.

I also spotted that thread after posting this thread and my understanding is that the deposit was used as part of the prep work for the car in question so no immediate profit as such for FGP.
Additionally FGP offered the buyer another car if his choice.
The last bit struck a cord with me as I once dealt with an Essex based “ specialist” who took 2k from me towards an agreed price for a car and engine rebuild refused to either return the 2k or offer an alternative car when he had many other cars.
From what I’ve read FGP at least offered a work around.
I do agree however for the sake of £500 I’d have just ensured this issue was put to bed from the outset.
Anyway , onwards and upwards FGP I’m enjoying the videos.

I stupidly gave my 3.2 Carrera to a “ Porsche Trader “ to sell, thought it was the Essex one you mention, but I’m sure this lot are in Sudbury. FGP aren’t in Essex . Good chance the one in Sudbury isn’t the one I had the misfortune of dealing with however they are very close to there
I went to look at a car they had a few years back.
It was a highly polished turd of a 996 complete with brand new ditch-finders with sidewalls so glossy you could see them from space.
I said thanks for showing me around and decided to leave it.
I got a text the next day simply saying: "Do you want it or not?"
I decided "Not".
Maybe they've changed or grown up a bit in the subsequent years but I won't be rushing back.

Try the one In Sudbury then , I’d rather go to FGP any day ! It was a highly polished turd of a 996 complete with brand new ditch-finders with sidewalls so glossy you could see them from space.
