Aston Service Dorset open day and charity raffle

I hesitate to do this as it may dilute my chances of winning, but it's for a good cause. I copy below an email I received from one of the directors of my local indy on booking my car in for some work this week... ..

"We are having an open day here, something we haven’t done before and at the moment have approx. 40 cars coming on the 9th October (0830-1230hrs), partly to open our new showroom/waiting area and partly to raise money for a friend of mine’s 2 year old boy, Thomas, who has brain tumours and has already undergone 40 hours of brain surgery to remove them and now has 18 months of chemotherapy ahead of him. As such we are running a raffle on the day of the open day, You are more than welcome to come for the event but just wondered if you would like to purchase any raffle tickets, they are £5 each in books of 5 and the current list of prizes is below, should you win anything and its something not practical, like the service voucher I would replace it with an AML F1 jacket of your choice from the new AML range. I will also cover the shipping cost to send you anything that you win as well. Let me know if you or anyone you work with would like to buy any tickets, I’m shamelessly sending to everyone as would like to make a real difference and support Thomas’s recovery/future. Card or bank transfer is fine and 100% goes to the charity. I have about another 10 prizes on their way from AML and other donators.

Weirdly I've driven past the place hundreds of times but I've never once seen it open, I wasn't even sure it was an operating business! Its not far for me at all and would actually make it my nearest service partner! If the weathers dry I'll pop on down

Me too... Looked like it was stuck in a time warp with mysterious vehicles under covers that looked like they'd been there since the 50s. It wasn't until I got my aston I found they were active... There is a modern workshop out the back, they specialise in older cars so always something interesting in there being worked on

They’re very local to me and very nice people, but I think they only service the vintage Astons and nothing from the Gaydon era. I may just pop along to (hopefully) discover that I’m wrong! If you need to source parts for a vintage model I’m sure these people would be a worthy call.

I can confirm as a local owner that Aston service Dorset do in fact service gaydon era astons as well having had some work done to a very satisfactory standard this year. As you say, I think classics are the cornerstone of their business with modern era cars welcome too. I believe they have the AMDS2 equipment.

I've been buying stuff for my rotboxes from them since 1979 when the present owners' grandfather was front of house. I'd dread to add it all up!

Some nice cars on the day, and interesting stuff in the refurbished waiting area and showroom. I'm sure they must have raised a few quid given the numbers of folk milling around

Was a fun trip out, thanks for making me aware! A pretty impressive set up they have there. Importantly my 3 year old won the lego DB5...... it's going to take me several hours to make it though!
