Have not bought a TV for quite a few Years.

200 Miles away and am hopefully going to sort when we visit for the Weekend in the next few Weeks.

Probably 40-43". Budget around £500 but not too important.
Needs to have Freeview.
Smart TV for iPlayer, etc and Wi-Fi
Will it need a Sound Bar? Will mostly be for watching normal TV/Catchup.

Reasonably OK with Tech. Uses a Tablet, Laptop and Smart Phone.
Who has the easiest User Interface?

Richer Sounds close to me and not too far from my Mum.
Was going to get a Samsung but they don't appear to have Freeview now.

Thanks

LG have the best UI I have found.

This one is in budget and being from Richer Sounds has 6 year warranty too.

My advice, check the remote control, make sure it is standard with decent sized buttons. Many TVs now come with 'smart' remotes that even I struggle with. Fitted a Samsung this week and the remote was tiny with just a few up and down buttons, not easy to use for an older person.

Your going to struggle, not with the tv but with your mum, the reason is simple they press 'other' buttons in error

eg. We may know the difference between the red on/off button and the other menu red button but if you tell her to press the red button you have no idea which one she is pressing!

The best answer by far is ask one of her neighbours to be her 'tech support' and bung them £20 to be on call, that way you can buy any TV but easier to buy the same one the neighbour has

Depending on her tech level (some 80 year olds are quite switched on) - maybe a TV that also has voice control?

I had some old Aunts that had one of those.

Thanks for all of the comments and suggestions.

I believe Samsungs still get the freeview channels - just that they don't use the freeview guide
