When will the £1k per month ‘new’ vantages arrive used
Discussion
Many of us missed the opportunity that existed to sign up for one of the new vantages at £1000 per month for a two year deal. I wonder if we know how many were sold on this deal, and how many might start to appear as second hand cars at the end of the two-year deal?
Were the early deals done in November 2019? I am interested to see what happens to the used prices as a consequence and most main dealer used vantage stock is prices around £90k.
Congratulations to those who jumped in and secured the original stonking deal, but I’m hoping that a used vantage opportunity might present itself to slow coaches like me who didn’t act swiftly enough 2 years ago.

Yes, it was November and December 2019.
AML had produced more Vantages than dealers could sell, so dealers had the stock and were not ordering replacement stock from Aston Martin. Andy Palmer wanted the retail numbers to look better in the 2019 company accounts. Only later in the subsequent accounts, was it revealed that there was a £35 million loss by AML on the promotion.
There has been a previous topic discussing this and from memory I think 150 / 200 cars were iinvolved.
People who study PCP, worked out that getting rid of them early was financially beneficial, so I think some have already been handed back. It was thought that they would be sold through auctions, but have not noticed mention on here confirming that.
The specs varied, but the PCP deals ignored the options fitted.
Yes November and December 2019, so some will return end of year, but expect it will be January onwards retailers will get them, after a wipe down and brush up.
Looking at AT last week there were about 60 2019 AMV including a few private sales (mainly 19 plate ones) for £100-115k, but if they dont get them sold soon they will be swamped with 100-200 69 plate cars - is my prediction.
Dec19 settlements will be @£90k so if WBAC/trade bids are £95k plus many might buy them from Alphera and either keep or sell and take small profit.
Very mixed feelings to let mine go early. £ made/saved was good, it would not have been used much, miles were much lower than contracted (helped with price) etc. But it was a wonderful car.

You have clearly enjoyed your Vantage, Robert.
Are you tempted to buy it?
If 'settlement' means the cost for you to purchase, then it would appear to be a bargain at £90k (vs trade £95 and retail £100-£115).
I suppose an extra 100-200 on top of 60 being advertised, will in theory depress values though.
Think at one point, some used (new) Vantages were advertised by main dealers as low as about (retail) £85k, but the market has clearly strengthened since then.
.............
I had a look at cars for sale at AM Sevenoaks. Far less stock than they used to display. Only one car in the front part of their showroom, whereas it used to be about four. Overall, a selection across the model range including one DBX and a black Vantage F1. My look around was after dark, so it was a challenge to name each model. Eventually worked out that a V8 DB11 has two bonnet vents, V12 DB11 has four bonnet vents and a DBSS has two big square bonnet vents. In amongst their display was a lonely Porsche 911 !

New Vantage units here in the states are in very low supply, especially coupes. Most dealers are out of stock. I think the new look has had
a chance to settle in and more are being sold to the younger audience Aston was trying to reach here.
Sounds like AM's build to customer order only strategy is beginning to worka chance to settle in and more are being sold to the younger audience Aston was trying to reach here.

During the VH Gaydon period and possibly prior to that, build to customer order was the modus operandi.
There was a minority amount of dealer showroom/demonstrator orders, but in the UK they were never openly advertised. It was more a case of nod, wink, we can give you a special price on that brand new car.
Following the introduction of the new Vantage, customer orders fell way below the initial period of its predecessor. Every dealer had demonstrators and showroom cars, so that boosted the early months, but then Gaydon began to push new stock on to dealers. I think that is called channel stuffing. Production exceeded demand, dealers became overstocked and stopped reordering, which eventually led to the £1,000 + 23x£1,000 deals.
In the USA, I understand dealers normally hold bigger stock levels than UK, because many customers want to have their car without having to wait for their own specification to be built.

So I'm unlikely to be able to pick up a 2 year old Vantage for less than £95,000 in Q1 of 2022?
They are already at that figure on the BCA auction site, unfortunately its still a trade only sale site at present and no public are allowed still in attendance at their venues. There are not loads yet coming available, but one or two 2019 cars have started to appear around your figure.
I imagine as the 150 plus units at the 1k deal drip feed back from Alphera etc the dealer stock will increase and I hope the values will ease. I do remember seeing a few of them at £89950 a year or so ago. I am just waiting patiently myself for the prices to ease before buying.
The best figures I got from AM were around £13-1400 pm to keep the car, without putting a further deposit in. That's obviously more than what the original payments were, but significantly less than what it would cost to PCP an equivalent secondhand one bought at retail price around £100k. Based on this, I'd imagine some owners must be tempted to keep them.
I got an even better quote from a third party finance co that isn't far off the original deal, so the temptation to keep it is strong. Especially as the settlement is still a couple of grand under the trade price, so I'd effectively be in profit from day 1 if I were to keep it. I do hope that 200 cars don't hit the market in the next few months, as I'm sure it would depress values and make it much more difficult to justify keeping it!

That's the same in Oz....$380k for a 2021 demo...the new driveaway price would be less with far better spec. I am guessing that dealers are overcharging people that don't want to wait for a new build.
I think part of the pleasure of purchasing an Aston is in the bespoke configuration!

Wonder what the cost would be to swap a "hunter" grill to the barred grill now available on one of these lease return V8s?
It's £3k all in painted and fitted. AM Works offer it all in house, other dealers are using local approved bodyshops. Eg if I get mine done through AM Nottingham, Chartwell's in Derby will do the painting and fitting. The side gills are also replaceable, mine are body coloured but I'm tempted to change for either the AM black ones or the DAE aftermarket ones from their race car.
