Where to rent a W124

I'm thinking of buying a W124, but haven't had the opportunity to drive one to see if I, and more importantly my wife, like it.

Anyone know if its possible to rent one in the Berkshire area for a day/weekend? Google doesn't throw up anything.

It's not really the sort of car that the classic car hire companies would add to their fleets (as you have evidenced by your Google searching).

So maybe find a car for sale and ask if you can test-drive it?

Ask on the Smoker Barge thread. Loads and loads of beardy detailed knowledge plus several W124 owners. You never know, someone may be able to help.

Have you tried the 80/90s Merc specialists? They may be able to help; Charles Ironside, Edward Hall, The SL Shop, John Haynes etc

My old W124 (2.3l) was probably one of the best cars I have ever owned, even though at the time I bought it as a cheap daily driver and have had much more expensive cars since. I would love another one.

Thanks that gives me encouragement! With the used car market as it is at the moment, a w124 seems to make more sense than something more recent.
