It’s probably been done to death on here over the years.
The last film I watched about 6 months ago, which really took me out of the Living Room and blew me away was a film called “ Heal the Living”
I don’t usually watch films again except if it’s The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
I’m watching “Heat” right now, it’s on Netflix. I’ve seen it many times, i m sure I’ve got it on DVD. it is a true masterpiece.
The attention to detail is incredible.
It’s definitely worth another view to realise what a brilliant movie it truly is.

You know when you get sucked into one of those YouTube “wormholes”.
A few weeks ago, I saw a video about how they made the “shootout”
Coffee scene coming up, then I’ll turn the volume up for the Bank Scene / shootout.
Ex SAS trooper Andy McNabb was a consultant on the film I believe. Had them all striping and reassembling the assault rifles over and over again so they knew them inside out and backwards. A few weeks ago, I saw a video about how they made the “shootout”

Probably the best shootout scene ever.
Yup. They certainly don’t make em like that anymore.
I remember my old man saying to me son: “ there is a new film coming out with Pacino and Di Niro, all the critics are talking about it”
My old man never got to see it, such a bloody shame.
Through my teens I grew up on “Miami Vice” .
I loved it. A visionary tv producer like no other Mr Mann.
Like I’ve said, I have seen Heat so many times, it’s nearly 3 bloody hours long! I only called in for a brief look - I did the lot. No matter how many times you watch it, it is such an incredible piece of work
If you’ve never seen it, I suggest you do.
Good night chaps.

One of my all time fave films...apart from the last two mins.
In my alternative ending, DeNiro would have evaded Pacino and managed to catch the flight. As he’s taking off he can see Brennerman looking at the plane and he realises what he’s had to sacrifice.
Which leads to sequel.
Every time…. Don’t turn off, don’t turn off, just get on that plane and start fresh. In my alternative ending, DeNiro would have evaded Pacino and managed to catch the flight. As he’s taking off he can see Brennerman looking at the plane and he realises what he’s had to sacrifice.

Heat is the only film I've seen where the loudness of the gun-fire is remotely realistic. It's so loud it takes over everything, where as in most other films, it just doesn't seem to be as loud as it should be.
I'm surprised you're not aware of the story behind that... when filming the shoot out scene they fully intended to dub the sound of gunshots onto it afterward, but the sound of the blanks echoing around the buildings sounded so good they left it as is, hence why it sounds so awesomely realistic. My all time favourite film.
I saw it in the cinema over a quarter of a century ago (as a teenager and it had an interlude due to the long running time!) and I’ve probably watched it 10 times since.
To me, it’s one of very few films that I can’t find fault with. A perfect 10/10.
I just moved into a new house with a new girlfriend. I bought a big tv and sound system for the purpose of watching this film. It’ll be the first film we watching here together and as much as I can’t wait to see it again on this huge Samsung, it’s really a test for her to see if she’s a keeper. My ex wife thought Heat was boring - that was the beginning of the end.

You might have to demean yourself with Ralph just to get closure with her if she doesn't like it I saw it in the cinema over a quarter of a century ago (as a teenager and it had an interlude due to the long running time!) and I’ve probably watched it 10 times since.

Not sure anyone has ever mentioned Heat on here before. Joking. Of course they have.
It's a great movie. One of Manns early films, and arguably his best. He made some great movies after, but then fell off a cliff.
I've heard the shootout has been used in US Marine training videos as a perfect example of a tactical withdrawal and how to cycle a weapon. Not sure I've ever seen any evidence for this beyond a bloke on the Internet says so mind.
But who cares. Its a brilliant moviez and for anyone lucky enough to have seen it in the cinema, or have a decent home cinema set up the shootout is f
king amazing.
