I’m struggling to decide which way to proceed!
I’ve been offered a new stock M5 competition discounted down to just over £82k with the comfort plus pack. I’ve also been offered a 12 month old M8 competition at £87k.
With the new M5 pcp offer at 3.9% and the used M8 offer at 2.9% they both come out at similar monthly prices.
Both fantastic cars, but I just can’t decide which to go for....

Honestly, just can’t understand why anybody would buy an M8?
The reason to buy an M5 is clear, as a spacious family saloon with a huge boot and under the radar. A big old beast, but a great daily and value at £75-£80k new.
A 2 door coupe should be all about looks, as well as increased performance to make up for its compromised packaging. Appreciate looks are subjective, but the M8 I ran for a week was a bit of a dogs dinner design wise imo. Drove exactly the same as my M5, weight and size similar, cost more….. just makes no sense to me?

well, it's all about perception and in the eye of the beholder. Thankfully we're all different. Under the radar could be perceived as = bland?
The M5 in its current incarnation looks great on paper but just doesn't look very special on the road. I don't particularly like the M8 either but it has individual looks, much greater presence visually and doesn't look like a standard model 5 series. I haven't looked at or inside an 8 GC but it would still appeal visually to me better than an M5.
For visuals and 4 seats the M6GC is the best looking car BMW have made in recent times
