After trawling through most of the web, I think I've settled in the Skoda Enyaq.

Have found a decent deal (3 months down, sub £400 a month, 10k miles over 3 yrs) and am tempted to go for it.

Is there anything I should ask before signing up? Lead time is between 22-30 weeks, so going to buy something to keep me mobile in the meantime.

I've just spent a couple of weekends looking at the Ioniq 5 and Enyaq. If you haven't been in the Ioniq, it feels very different! The Enyaq felt very enclosed and "cosy", retaining central mid-height bars between the passenger and driver and having a bit less space in the rear. Something like that is personal preference, but I recommend trying both; I was surprised at how different they felt!

As for lead times, Hyundai have pre-specced Ioniq's available now, while Kia claim they can get you an EV6 in 6-8 weeks, sepc dependent. My local dealer gets their demonstrator in a couple of weeks, so I'll be sniffing around that soon.

Hope that helps!

The 5 does look bloody smart - but the pricing seems to be far higher than the enyaq for some reason.

Would prefer the 5 (and ticks off another brand of car I've owned!) as the looks are stunning.

I recently test drove the Ionic 5 and the Enyaq (also a Polestar 2 and Tesla M3) and have the Kia EV 6 at the end of the month.

Unless the Kia blows me away I've pretty much decided on which electric car I'll be getting.

Anyhow the Ionic was a lovely drive, well balanced and torquey enough to enjoy. The infotainment wasn't too bad, plenty of space (boot smaller than I thought it would be for the size of the car)
I found the Enyaq to be very disappointing. The ride was too harsh, was slower than expected and how the feck they get away calling that glass large sunroof a panoramic sunroof is a marketing crime...lol. The Skoda infotainment was also poor.

specced up both are around the hi £40k mark, which is over priced for what they both are.

I've seen around £30-£50/m difference on lease deals. I would expect that gap to close and prices to come down towards year end.

While there is one chap on PH who is having problems with his Ioniq's range, I've read quite a few reports that indicate that Hyundai/Kia are much closer to their WLTP claims than VAG products. Just something else to bear in mind. We have a Inoiq hatchback (prefacelift) and in summer we've outperformed the claimed 174 mile range. Winter see us between 120 and 140, depending upon fast roads vs. city, just to give you an idea. Enyaq 260s claim 256, but appear to be closer to 200-220 at best. Relevant review.

I've come across the Kia EV6 during my days research and bloody hell it looks stunning!

Noted re the ranges and the Enyaq ride etc - all good knowledge to have as this would be my first EV.

Wonder is pistonheads has a sister site 'battery-heads'?

My thoughts so far.
The Model 3 is leagues ahead of all the rest. That's not taking into account range or Supercharger network.

Ionic 5 - lovely drive cheap interior, average infotainment
Skoda - just poor. Clunky ride, good space, poor infotainment
Polestar 2 - lovely car, beautiful interior, quick but with performance pack ride too firm for London roads. Went out in another without pack and was miles better. Was top of my list until I drove the Model 3 the next day.

Tesla have hit the ball out of the park with this one. Build quality is very good, infotainment is second to none. Super smooth interface. All necessary buttons at bottom for easy access. It was very comfortable inside and visibility is fantastic all round. Love the panoramic roof (Skoda take note)
The drive is superb, very well balanced and composed ( perfect for 95% of usual driving). Acceleration was lovely, not neck jerking like Polestar (wife's words)
Enough mod cons to be luxurious enough and just a pleasant place to sit inside.

So for me the Model Y is a no brainer when it comes out as we need the hatchback and larger rear headroom/width. I can forgo the 0.5sclec slowness.

How some manufacturers get the touchscreens so wrong is beyond me.
I can see the hate for them, and it's all justified.

Touch controls aren't bad. But bad touch controls give that perception.

Can't remember what car it was, but I recently saw a reviewer having to go through two menus to adjust the seat heater banghead.
There's a lot to be said about Tesla, but they got the touch controls spot on.
That said, I don't think a lot of people would cross shop an Enyaq with a Model Y? The Enyaq seems like the budget friendly choice in that regards?

The Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 both look great in their own way and V2L is a killer feature imho.

.
Coming from a Volvo XC60 Inscription Pro with all luxury features (panoramic roof, heated/ventilated/massaging front seat) interior comfort and space for a family of four is paramount (gone are the days of performance driving for me frown )

The Enyaq and Model Y seem to be in same segment, 5 seater (Model Y does have 7 seat option which is an added bonus for me) and are similar interior size and boot space. also by the time you spec up the Enyaq they're similar prices too (going on Euro prices for Model Y)

Agreed, they are both on my radar (at least the Y would be if it looked like it'll exist in the UK anytime soon!)

It's meant to be early 2022 which is when I'm looking to get a BEV as I'm I'm no hurry atm. Unless of course there's more ridiculous fuel panic buying.

I came out of a diesel X1 & went into an Enyaq just over a month ago, the Enyaq is a fair bit bigger, both in the cabin & boot space, 2 x 15yr olds & a 17yr old sat in the back without complaining! I have the iV80 version & have done about 2000 miles in the 5 weeks i've had it, majority on DC & M25. Driven "gently" (65mph ish & no climate) i'm getting 3.8-4m/kwH & drving "normally" (75mph & climate on) it's 3.2ish, it's averaged 3.7 since new. Either way a comfortable 250miles per full charge & 300 if I want it.

No issues with the infotainment, but my reference point was the X1 with standard set up, so to my eyes this system is a massive leap forward. Went for standard spec + 20" wheels which were NCO at the time, metallic & basic climate pack & it came in at under £41k. No ACC, electric boot close, adaptive lights etc, but no option to add them on my car scheme. Overall i'm delighted with it, choose it for the BIK savings, rather than "saving the planet" but can't see me going back to ICE.
