Hope some one can give me a recommendation

The turbo on our 2006 BMW e91 has failed. The car is a high miler but in reasonable nick as a spare/2nd family car for emergencies.

I want to get it fixed but our local garage has said they will only fit new/OEM parts due to hassle over warranties etc. I completely understand where they're coming from and what normally happens is the owner sources a replacement turbo and they will fit with new oil/filters/pipes etc.

There are plenty of cheap £250 turbos off ebay and the like but how good are they? I'm only looking to get another couple of years, maybe 10,000 miles out of car before it finally dies.

Can anyone recommend a a good remanufacturer to buy a recon unit?

Thanks

Jon

I’ve used atom car parts for 2 turbos on pd130’s. They’ve been fine so far; maybe a combined 35/40k miles

Turbo Technics, Universal Turbos, AET Turbos, Turbo Dynamics are some of the big names.

In the cases of some cars they'd be suppling new units anyway as opposed to re-con.

But it would do no harm to price the actual main dealer too. Sometimes they're prices are ok, although most of the time they're sky high.

Just pays to shop around.

I know a few people who have used Turboactive for things and they’ve been in business many years
