Where to buy cardboard boxes for Alloy Wheels with Tyres?

Where do people buy cardboard boxes when they sell their used alloy wheels?

I am trying to find a square cardboard box of around 650mmx 650mm but am really struggling.

I have found a website that will sell me a pack of 10 for £115 but that is just silly money. I'm pretty shocked that such boxes will likely cost around £10 each so I definitely do not want to buy more than I need. I thought they would be £2 each.

Am stunned how hard it is to find such a product.

Can't you just mcgyver some packaging together from any old cardboard plus a load of tape?

Not sure if it's still a thing (it was a few years ago mind), but you used to be able to pick up cardboard boxes for free from supermarkets/DIY stores, then modify them to the size you want. Could be worth a try if you can't find what you're looking for.

Bubble wrap the face of the alloy and then cover with cardboard cut outs to protect, buy some pallet wrap stuff and wrap around everything. Alloys with tyres are heavy things, I'm sure that would be enough with the tyre in place to protect, maybe lots of bubble wrap on the face of the alloy.

Courier companies require the wheels to be boxed.

Looks like I will need to watch some Macguiver episodes.

Collection is preferred but then the buyers market is reduced drastically if there is no delivery offered.

I have a set of 5 boxes that I purchased from Ebay. They're 609mm each, your welcome to them if your a me to collect. I bought them to send some wheels, but the courier didn't need them boxed in the end.

They do. The way I do this is,

Unpick and flatten some cardboard boxes. They need to be big enough that the wheel can sit upright, and have half the diameter left both sides.
Roll the wheel forwards, to form a tube with your wheel in the centre. tape the tube closed.
From the edge of the wheel outwards, cut a flap of material about 3-4" wide.
Fold that over the face.
Repeat all the way round.
Wrap the entire thing in a layer of parcel tape, I use a couple of rolls per set.
Wheels only? Protect the edge with pipe insulation first.

Hey presto - boxed. I've sent many wheels this way and no problems with damage or rejection.

Paisley Freight were stipulating that wheels needed to be boxed for a while but the last couple of sets of bare alloys I've sent / received just had cardboard covering the faces then were full wrapped in tape / bubble wrap / inside out Farmfoods bags. Suppose it's also down to how precious said wheels are. But I'd agree, your local alloy wheel purveyor will have boxes or yes, supermarket and then get all Blue Peter with the sticky backed plastic and a responsible grown up to assist.

Paisley freigh will send you boxes these days I think. Or the bubble wrap/pallet wrap (+insurance!) idea is solid.

Order something cheap but a similar size to a wheelfrom Amazon. They’ll send you the boxes.

Bubble wrap and then put them in a dumpy day like you get sand/gravel in. Tie up the handles and tape it up

Prove my point, just received a salad spinner about 12 in diameter , in a box big enough for two 17 in wheels!

When I sent alloys, the easiest way was to get 2 similar boxes, of half the size of the wheel, and insert the flaps inside each box and bind in each direction with duck(t) tape.

There’s always people either giving them away after moving or wanting them for moving.

Stick them on a pallet, use that sticky plastic to bind them to the pallet and use a pallet haulier?

He said 65x65 which suggests this is alloys with tyres still on them.

If it's alloys without any tyres, they'd have to be fking huge wheels.
