Why trackdays are good...
Discussion
Now a lot of people raised their eybrows when I took the taxi to France (fair enough it's not really your ideal rack car being a 2 tonne merc!).
Now I know why I went, this afternoon on a wet crossroads turning right I hit a patch of wet leaves and somehow end up in a rather lairy oversteer moment.
Without my track exprience at Folembray, I would probably now be climbing out of a hedge and wondering why the hell I bought such a big lumbering brute of a car and didn't buy a nice little micra instead.
However a bit of opposite lock and judiciously applied power corrected the slide, kept me moving in the right direction and safely out of the oncomming traffic.
Bit of a heart stopper
, but no damage done.
So, and if you haven't been on a trackday yet, do it, you may not be the fastest / best / maddest driver, but you will learn something and it might save you..
So, anyone else been saved on teh road by something they learned on the track?
Take it easy out there

Well did a passenger lap(or 10) in Gary's Cerb with johno at the wheel, the man knows what he's doing. Suggest before you get going too quick to do some passenger laps with those who know the circuit. It makes a massive difference.
Folembray was my first track experience and I'd done a couple of sessions before someone explained the line to me. All the time I've spent on the PS2 I thoght I knew all about racing lines, but in reality I didn't have a clue..
Anyway you'll love it!
