Iphone caller ID question

[neilr]

My mother called me from a hospital earlier for a lift home. She used a porters mobile phone (which was nice of him).I was at her home awaiting the call to the landline. When the guy put in the number on his phone, my name appeared on the screen. They were both (understandably) surprised. (in the way it does if you manually enter a number that exists as an existing contact)

My name is not associated with my parents landline in anyway although it is the same number they've had for the last 50 years. I know no one who works in hospitals in the south of the UK, or any friends of friends etc. I have never been to that hospital expect to take and collect my mother today.

Having called the number back after collecting her and speaking to the guy whos phone it he had no answers for me either.

Any idea? I'm somewhat concerned that my name appears on a stangers mobile phone when my parents land line number is put in.

Any ideas?.....

did he call using WhatsApp / Telegram / etc?

thanks for the reply. As far as I'm aware he simply dialled the number into his phone.. However I don't / never have used those apps

He could have an Android phone running Truecaller or similar.

There is apps out there such as Truecaller, where people can save peoples numbers and that persons details will come up on other phones. Sounds to be like that is what has happened.

Mind you, I have a work iPhone, somebody has text me tonight, I don't have their number saved, but its come up with their details through iMessage, presumably from their iaccount.
