He always struck me as being decent...but didn't know that much about him really.

53 is no age and scarily close for me.

Very sad and quite shockingly quick, I think it was only Jan this year when he took a break when a tumour reappeared.

Always came across as a good caring sort whenever I saw him on the TV.

Really sad news... I'd seen him speak in The Commons and doing tv interviews and just he came over as a genuinely nice guy.
Very un-politician like in many ways..! No age at 53, but cancer breaks every boundary.
Sympathy to his family and friends.

Shocked.

I drove him on one journey in the lead up to the 2012 Olympics.

He was kind and decent and asked intelligent questions. Remembered him as thoroughly likeable.
