Thinking about my first foray into the Apple Watch world with the Series 6.

Doesn’t seem to be that much difference between the 6 and the new 7 and I was hoping the 6 would be available at a decent discount but prices still seem to be hovering around the price of the new 7.

Is this typical will they drop after the 7 hits the shelves ?

I bought a Series 5 in January and there was a flurry of good deals on them, presumably retailers clearing down any remaining that aren't current models after Christmas. Tends to be the more expensive, less popular models though - I got a stainless, cellular one that I wouldn't have paid the extra for at normal price but a good deal when heavily discounted.

If you want sooner then Apple's own "refurb" section is worth a look - any stock of discontinued models ends up there and they're £40-50 off.

I’ve just been looking at upgrading my series 4 to either a 6 or 7 ( only really upgrading as I want cellular and I’ve promised my current watch to my son)

As noted there isn’ta great deal of difference in the price - the Apple refurb site does bring the cost of the 6 down a little so worth looking there if you haven’t already

I’ve gone for the 7 in the end and reluctantly gone for stainless steel - purely because I prefer the colour options

I'm considering the same - my partner has had a 6 for some time and, whilst I don't usually wear a watch at all, I could go for one at a reasonable price and the always-on display is appealing.

IMO the AppleCare on the watch is obligatory as the cost of service/ repair is all but the full cost of the device - SWMBO dropped hers and cracked the screen within a few weeks of unboxing it. That would have been a £300+ bill without Care, with it iirc accidental excess is £49.

Had a good look and decided to go for an SE £250 on Amazon at mo. Don’t think I’ll use the features of the 6 really.

Totally forgot pre-ordering opened at 15:00. Ordered a 45mm Gold one for pickup next Saturday. For some reason the earliest delivery times were at the start of November. Anyone else ordered?

I’ve ordered two series 7’s, a 45mm that I will try out to see how I get on with Apple watch ownership and a 41mm that I will keep boxed and sell when I am back from my contract here in the USA. I’m hoping for shortages leading to ‘overs’, but I think I can realistically at least get my money back given the difference in UK and USA prices.

Looking forward to trying an Apple watch for the first time. It’s the health features that I’m most interested in, along with the sleep tracker.

Yes, gone for a 45mm graphite stainless steel (cellular)

Was really wanting it to be the square shape that was touted but hey ho

Out of curiosity what delivery times were you quoted when you ordered? And what time roughly did you order?

I ordered at 13:35 per the confirmation mail and delivery was the start of November.

I’m not in a rush and it’s a drive for collection so happy to wait

Cheers. I guess for my slovenly ordering 45 mins late I'm obliged to have to drive over to my local Apple store to get it on release date, rather than delivered to me. #firstworldproblems.

Hopefully for my troubles I won't get applauded for patronising them. "Great watch kid, you're one in a million".

I was considering a 6 but it hardly seems worth it for the small saving on the refurb store. I will probably aim for a 7.

The appeal to me with the new one is the 20% bigger screen size from reducing the bezel and the ability to do an 80% charge in 45 mins.

it's my first Apple watch so I'm looking forward to seeing how it goes.

Minimal...maybe 10% on some products. Retailers won't be allowed to do anything over and above that.....they control the pricing of their products very aggressively.

I'm still on an Series 3, still very quick on Watch OS 8, only really use it for Apple Pay, Activity and quick replies on iMessage, can anyone give me a good excuse to upgrade

Screen bigger, charges faster if you want a topup, a red ring around the crown so you can let everyone know you’ve got one of the newer ones. That’s about it really (and the last one was a joke)
